Capstone Project
My Capstone Project consists of making a digital animation 3D model that demonstrates the idea/concept of a prosthetic muscle.
The end product will be a model that will demonstrate the concept of a new type of artificial muscle. This fake muscle is taken from the idea that if fake bones can existence, then fake muscles can exist as well. The model will demonstrate and illustrate how and why it will be more efficient for individuals who have upper body amputations. The materials in mind that will allow the artificial to take form is still to be researched, but the material projected to exist is a synthetic material that contracts when exposed to an electric pulse. This electrical pulse will behave like a signal from the brain instructing the limbs of the body. For the artificial muscle, the “signal” will come from an external battery or technology will allow the electrical pulse to be emitted from the human body. Either way, the technology that allows a machine to sense nerve pulses from the brain already exists. When the ultimate electrical pulse passes through synthetic material, it will contract like biological muscle. However, if this concept proves to be a failure, there is another concept that can follow the same guidelines by using another material. The electrical pulse will remain present but instead of a synthetics material there can be magnetic usage. The life of magnets is more than human live expectancy and they can always be recharged. In this concept, the strength emitted from the magnetic artificial muscle will reflect the voltage from the electrical pulse. The strength of the electrical pulse will be interpreted by a module that will somehow be connected to the brain.
The purpose of the 3D model is to demonstrate this concept.
